Senior Research Associate

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California; hourly pay rate specified for Redwood City, California

What you will do

• Execute hands-on in vivo studies in mice and rats across multiple drug discovery and development programs.
• Perform rodent dosing through PO, IP, IV, and SC routes, with additional oropharyngeal and intratracheal procedures as required.
• Conduct blood collection, necropsy, transcardiac perfusion, tissue harvest, CSF collection, dissection, and tissue weighing.
• Process, label, preserve, and transfer samples while maintaining accurate study records and data traceability.
• Plan study activities with scientists, operational leads, and vivarium staff, coordinating schedules, timepoints, supplies, and sample needs.
• Monitor animal health and welfare, troubleshoot routine issues, communicate deviations, and provide technical training and study coverage, including weekends when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, pharmacology, veterinary science, animal science, or a related life science discipline.
• At least five years of hands-on in vivo research experience in industry or a comparable research setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency with standard rodent dosing techniques, including PO, IP, IV, and SC routes.
• Strong attention to detail, data integrity, protocol and SOP compliance, organization, and ability to manage concurrent time-sensitive studies.
• Commitment to animal care, ethical research, safety, IACUC requirements, and applicable institutional protocols.
• Ability to work on site in the San Francisco Bay Area and adjust hours for study demands, including independent weekend coverage.

Nice to have

• Experience with oropharyngeal or intratracheal dosing.
• Experience with stereotactic or ICV surgery.
• Experience supporting multiple programs or therapeutic areas.
