Electrical Test Failure Analysis Technician (PCB)

What you will do

• Diagnose electrical faults in rejected bare PCBs, including intermittent opens, micro-shorts, high resistance, and dielectric breakdowns.
• Use digital multimeters, micro-ohmmeters, time-domain reflectometers, microscopes, and other benchtop equipment to locate defects.
• Prepare or coordinate micro-sectioning to verify internal copper defects, plating voids, and registration issues.
• Collaborate with CAM, process engineering, and fabrication teams to identify defect trends and support corrective actions.
• Re-verify boards after manual rework or engineering changes using flying probe testers.
• Prepare failure-analysis reports and maintain traceability records for high-reliability applications.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of electronics testing experience, including failure analysis or advanced troubleshooting.
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field preferred.
• Knowledge of PCB construction, netlists, trace routing, and IPC standards such as IPC-A-600 and IPC-9252.
• Proficiency with scopes, meters, TDR testers, and bare-board testing software.
• Strong methodical problem-solving skills for complex multilayer electrical failures.
• Must comply with US export-control requirements; access to ITAR products and related technical data is restricted to US Citizens and US Permanent Residents.
