Icing Flight Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, United States. Travel of up to 50% is required, including seasonal winter travel for icing certification testing.

Salary: $72,000–$83,000 per year

What you will do

• Plan and execute developmental and operational tests of system integrations on aviation weapon system platforms.
• Support icing certification testing and monitor flight safety and data quality in real time.
• Analyze test data and prepare technical reports.
• Contribute to and document flight operations and flight test development.
• Support test project management, including schedule and cost considerations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with at least 3 years of applicable experience, or a relevant master’s degree with 1 year of experience, or a PhD in engineering.
• Experience designing, constructing, and testing aircraft or aviation systems, or conducting related engineering research.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Engineering background in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or industrial/systems engineering is relevant.
• Up to 50% travel is required for flight test support.

Nice to have

• Coursework or experience in aircraft icing.
• Intermediate knowledge of aircraft systems and test and evaluation.
• Experience with MS Office, programming, MATLAB, Python, and technical writing.
• Rotary-wing or fixed-wing flight test experience.
