Assistant Operator (Industrial Gases)

Location: Granite City, Illinois, United States; onsite plant role

Salary: $39.92 per hour

What you will do

• Operate chemical and industrial gas processes and equipment, including process control through DCS systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant processes and equipment while supporting safe, high-quality, and cost-efficient operations.
• Support minor maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
• Use SAP, Microsoft Office, and other computer-based systems for administrative and operational tasks.
• Collect and analyze data, prioritize critical work, and collaborate with technical and administrative teams across multiple locations.
• Provide rotating-shift coverage, occasional weekend on-call support, and plant outage support.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Solid previous work background and/or military record.
• Willingness to support 24x7 plant operations through on-call availability.
• Ability to climb ladders and steps and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to plant safety procedures.

Nice to have

• Degrees, certifications, or additional technical training.
• Training in industrial systems, machine tool technology, electromechanical technology, mechatronics, automotive technology, HVAC, process technology, electrical technology, or instrumentation technology.
• Military or veteran experience.
