Senior Information Security Specialist (AWS Security)

Location: Hybrid in Ashburn, Virginia, with onsite work required 3 days per week during standard business hours. An active CBP, DHS, or Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary: $88,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a mid-sized team of junior and mid-level ISSOs.
• Oversee RMF, ATO, security authorization, compliance, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring activities.
• Partner with ISSMs, system owners, developers, architects, engineers, assessors, and government stakeholders.
• Develop and assess security controls aligned with FISMA, NIST 800-53, DHS, and client requirements.
• Provide cybersecurity guidance for AWS-hosted applications throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare security documentation, risk assessments, metrics, status reports, and executive briefings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience securing federal information systems.
• Experience leading information security professionals and working directly with federal government stakeholders.
• Strong experience with NIST RMF, security authorization, ATO activities, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 controls.
• Experience with vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, audits, assessments, or compliance reviews.
• Experience securing AWS-hosted applications and systems.
• Current CBP, DHS, or Top Secret clearance and ability to work onsite in Ashburn 3 days per week are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with SSPs, ISAs, PTAs, ATTs, POA&Ms, and other RMF authorization artifacts.
• Experience with application development, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, Agile, Jira, or similar platforms.
• Experience with GRC tools such as CSAM.
• Understanding of AI applications for cybersecurity operations, risk analysis, compliance, or security program management.
