Principal Cyber Security Engineer US Federal

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At least 50% of each quarter is spent in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $184,800–$277,200 USD for the primary Reston location; $167,200–$300,000 USD for additional US locations.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and operate cybersecurity tooling for production infrastructure.
• Develop automated security controls, frameworks, and services across public and private clouds.
• Provide cybersecurity consulting and guidance to infrastructure and service teams.
• Improve security toolchains and threat-defense capabilities systematically and at scale.
• Develop solutions using industry-standard programming and scripting languages.

Requirements

• Must be a naturalized or native United States citizen due to US Federal Government contract requirements.
• Must already possess a valid and active TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph.
• Experience with Linux operating systems or containers and development, scripting, or automation languages.
• Knowledge of cloud security, AWS or GCP, threat modeling, security policy, and NIST 800-53 standards.
• Ability to work analytically, solve problems, learn new skills, accept feedback, and collaborate with a team.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code development and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD, container security, REST APIs, and HTTP.
• Knowledge of encryption functions and authorization schemas.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
