Staff Software Architect (MedTech)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the San Diego, California office (Hybrid)

Salary: $188,000–$221,000

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of large-scale, cross-team platform capabilities.
• Ensure non-functional requirements like performance, scalability, and security are met across the domain.
• Partner with product and engineering managers to break down complex designs into deliverable increments.
• Contribute hands-on to high-complexity features and build reference implementations.
• Mentor engineers and champion engineering best practices across the organization.
• Represent the architecture to strategic customers and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from the San Diego, California office.
• Deep expertise in at least one general-purpose language (TypeScript or Python preferred) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and containerized workloads (AKS).
• Experience designing data models on relational stores and event-driven systems.
• Proven track record of leading technical alignment among senior engineers and managing long-term system consequences.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between engineering, executives, and customers.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into production systems.
• Background in clinical trials or regulated healthcare domains.
• Familiarity with the full stack: React, Node.js, Redis, Vite, and Azure.
