Mechanical Engineer (Quantum Hardware)

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and iterate sample holders, magnetic shielding, brackets, and other components for packaging, shielding, and mounting quantum processors and amplifiers.
• Collect product requirements with design and measurement teams and translate them into practical, manufacturable designs.
• Own projects involving form factor, ease of use, and high-density integration.
• Document designs, technical drawings, and best practices to support knowledge transfer and future scaling.
• Select and manage suppliers, oversee outsourced manufacturing, and ensure quality and timely delivery.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in mechanical or hardware design with a record of producing high-quality, manufacturable designs.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
• Experience with prototyping techniques such as 3D printing or CNC machining.
• A proactive approach to requirements gathering, sketches, prototypes, feedback, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with large temperature gradients, magnetic shielding, electromagnetic radiation protection, or thermalisation.
• Experience designing radiofrequency systems or PCBs.
