Founding Engineer (AI/Hardware)

hirify.global is building a pre-seed venture focused on ambient sensing technology for elderly and vulnerable people at home, with studio support across product, design, talent, and growth.

What you will do

• Serve as the first engineering hire and technical counterpart to the founding team.
• Own hardware validation, bench testing, sensor-platform development, and the manufacturing path.
• Build software for sensor-data interpretation, detection logic, alerts, and escalation decisions.
• Address embedded-system certification, security, and Personally Identifiable Information protection from the beginning.
• Lead vendor and manufacturing negotiations and secure suitable production partners and capabilities.
• Hire, mentor, and lead the engineering team as the venture grows.

Requirements

• Early-stage hardware experience, including taking a product from zero to one in a startup environment.
• Comfort working across embedded systems and software.
• Experience using AI to accelerate engineering, prototyping, and startup operations.
• Experience leading or building a small engineering team, or clear readiness to take on that responsibility.
• Evidence-first, proactive working style and comfort with ambiguity and rigorous validation.
• Experience with regulatory, security, or compliance requirements in health tech, medical devices, or another safety- and privacy-regulated field.

Nice to have

• Direct experience taking a regulated product through CE, UKCA, FDA, or equivalent certification.
