Health & Safety Specialist (Medtech)

Location: Castlebar, Mayo, with responsibilities across the Castlebar and Swinford sites

What you will do

• Maintain and improve Health & Safety policies, procedures, site programs, and ISO 45001 management system requirements.
• Lead risk assessments for equipment, processes, chemicals, ergonomics, facility changes, and capital projects.
• Conduct workplace inspections, GEMBA walks, audits, and contractor safety reviews.
• Lead or support incident investigations, near-miss reviews, root cause analyses, and CAPA implementation.
• Coordinate emergency response programs, training, drills, and preparedness activities.
• Deliver safety training, monitor KPIs, and promote employee engagement and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, or another highly regulated environment.
• Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, inspections, audits, and safety training.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with an ISO 45001 management system is highly desirable.
