Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Terraform)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design and maintain modular Terraform code covering cloud accounts, environments, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Build reusable, tested Terraform modules with clear interfaces, semantic versioning, and documentation.
• Develop infrastructure automation pipelines with plan/apply gating, drift detection, and policy enforcement.
• Manage Terraform state, workspaces, backends, disaster recovery, and multi-account, multi-region, and multi-cloud provisioning.
• Embed security, networking, identity, secrets management, and least-privilege IAM guardrails into modules and pipelines.
• Lead migrations from legacy and manually managed infrastructure, optimize costs, document standards, and mentor engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineering experience with significant Terraform work; the position lists 12+ years of overall experience.
• Deep production Terraform expertise, including reusable modules, state management, backends, and large-scale workspace organization.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash and experience with CI/CD, automated policy enforcement, Git workflows, cloud networking, identity, and security.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, or eligible for an H-1B transfer; new H-1B petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Multi-cloud Terraform experience with AWS and Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with Terragrunt, Atlantis, Spacelift, or env0.
• Experience with Sentinel, OPA, Checkov, public Terraform modules or providers, and FinOps practices.
