Temporary Video Producer III, Planet Money (Social Video)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, United States; office attendance is required at least three days per week, and residence in the New York City area is required.

What you will do

• Refine and implement Planet Money’s video strategy with leadership, video creators, and hirify.global visual and social teams.
• Experiment with different forms of video journalism, evaluate audience and performance data, and identify effective approaches.
• Conceive, produce, shoot, edit, and publish video for hirify.global platforms and social media in collaboration with Planet Money and The Indicator.
• Train and coach audio producers in video production, visual storytelling, video tools, and performance metrics.
• Develop short-form social videos, captions, stories, and supporting copy that extend podcast and newsletter journalism to new audiences.
• Establish sustainable video production workflows that podcast teams can continue after the six-month assignment.

Requirements

• At least four years of regular video production experience in journalism, explanatory content, or a comparable editorial setting.
• At least two years of experience creating or managing video for social and digital platforms, using audience and performance data to guide decisions.
• Mastery of video, photo, and design tools in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere.
• Advanced experience with video podcasting tools such as Riverside and Descript.
• Strong knowledge of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, platform analytics, visual storytelling, editorial judgment, copyright, and journalistic ethics.
• Ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines, coach colleagues, lift equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, and work varied shifts.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of and interest in the economic topics covered by Planet Money and The Indicator.
• Experience managing social media channels for a news, media, publishing, or editorial organization.
• Experience helping journalists or content creators develop video production and visual storytelling skills.
