TL;DR
Forward Deployed Researcher (AI): Designing and delivering AI evaluation and human-data collection engagements for AI labs and enterprise customers with an accent on evaluation methodology, rubric design, quality frameworks, and model-in-the-loop workflows. Focus on prototyping research tooling, translating customer insights into platform capabilities, and communicating complex AI concepts across research, engineering, product, and customer teams.
Location: Remote; candidates must be based in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, or be able to work US timezone hours

What you will do
- Partner with AI labs and enterprise AI teams on evaluation and human-data collection engagements.
- Design evaluation methodologies, rubrics, data collection approaches, quality frameworks, verifiers, validation frameworks, and reinforcement learning environments.
- Own project methodology from scoping through delivery in collaboration with the Services team.
- Build relationships with customer research and engineering teams and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Identify patterns that can become platform capabilities and work with Product and Engineering on roadmap priorities.
- Share research learnings, contribute to publications and collaborations, mentor team members, and translate insights into practical applications.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in AI/ML research, research engineering, or applied machine learning.
- Strong knowledge of LLM evaluation methodologies, data collection design, and human feedback approaches.
- Experience designing AI-assisted or model-in-the-loop workflows.
- Track record of delivering research or applied AI/ML projects with clear outcomes.
- Ability to prototype solutions and build supporting tools quickly.
- Based in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, or able to work US timezone hours.
