Engineer II, Process Engineering (mRNA Manufacturing)

Location: 100% onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $74,000–$118,400 per year, excluding potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Provide engineering support and subject matter expertise for GMP process equipment, including filtration, chromatography, mixing, fermentation, filling, inspection, packaging, formulation, and analytical systems.
• Lead small- to medium-sized engineering projects through design, procurement, installation, start-up, commissioning, validation, and qualification.
• Troubleshoot alarms, out-of-specification conditions, equipment failures, and out-of-tolerance events; determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain process equipment assets in CMMS, including preventive maintenance plans, calibration data, spare parts, and work-order workflows.
• Manage change controls, deviations, CAPAs, engineering turnover packages, equipment documentation, and automated method updates.
• Collaborate with MS&T, Facilities, Validation, Quality Assurance, and equipment end users while supporting audits, investigations, changeovers, and on-call troubleshooting.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in Facilities, Engineering, or Operations.
• Experience with structured problem-solving, root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to evaluate production performance metrics such as OEE, MTBF, and MTTF, and manage equipment life cycles.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, and comply with applicable U.S. export-control access requirements.

• Experience in a GxP environment.
• Basic statistical analysis experience.
