Backend Engineer III - Growth

Location: Remote within the United States, with quarterly travel for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location. Permanent US work authorization is required.

Salary: $130,000–$153,000 per year, plus potential annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Build and maintain scalable backend services for content experimentation and event tracking.
• Develop unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Participate in architectural discussions and write service design proposals.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, mobile, business intelligence, and marketing stakeholders.
• Extend existing onX services and identify AI workflows that improve velocity without reducing quality.
• Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation for backend services.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, primarily in API development.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Permanent US work authorization.
• Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location.
• Ability to demonstrate alignment with onX company values.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go or similar backend languages.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code technologies.
• Experience with a major cloud platform, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation platforms such as Eppo.
