Manager, Engineering, SecureAI (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work with in-person onboarding

Annual base salary: CAD 168,000–231,000, plus applicable equity, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the Agent Access Policies engineering sub-team and manage performance, goals, career development, hiring, and retention.
• Define the team’s strategic direction and roadmap with product management and technical leads.
• Drive projects from inception through delivery while coordinating with cross-functional and geographically distributed stakeholders.
• Maintain high standards for quality, security, testing, automation, and operational excellence.
• Lead adoption of new technologies and integrate AI into the software development lifecycle.
• Build policies that provide per-agent, per-resource, and per-tool access decisions at runtime, including delegated-agent authorization to act for employees.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams, including performance management and career planning.
• Experience managing technical projects from planning to execution and understanding Agile methodologies, Scrum/Kanban, and CI/CD.
• Strong technical background in scalable, secure, high-performance web applications and server-side architecture.
• Familiarity with Java or C#, the Spring Framework, web security, secure coding, accessibility standards, and AI agent protocols such as MCP.
• Knowledge of IAM concepts and protocols including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML is a strong plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, 10+ years of software development experience, 5+ years designing enterprise software, and 2+ years managing engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Prior experience as a Tech Lead or in an architecture-focused role.
• Experience leading AI adoption, developer tooling changes, or engineering culture transformation.
• Hands-on experience building, scaling, or securing AI-powered applications and agentic platforms.
• Experience with cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
