Security Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Annual salary: CAD 126,000–154,000. Typical starting salary for candidates fully ready for the role: CAD 140,000.

What you will do

• Plan and run purple-team security simulations and contribute to the security awareness program.
• Review access to sensitive customer and financial data in administrative dashboards and implement improvements.
• Strengthen security across developer environments, including tooling, packages, and production access.
• Turn findings from security exercises into practical fixes with delivery, IT, and business teams, and follow them through completion.
• Develop cyber-awareness exercises, including internal phishing simulations, and research emerging threats such as AI misuse, supply-chain risks, identity challenges, and Shadow IT.
• Communicate security findings clearly and help build a strong security culture.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–4 years of experience in security or an adjacent technical role with meaningful security exposure.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals and hands-on experience with adversary simulation, detection engineering, penetration testing, incident response, or vulnerability management.
• Ability to script with Python, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Comfort working with cloud and developer environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, GitHub, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of authentication and access protocols including SSO, OAuth, SAML, or OpenID Connect, or experience with zero-trust principles.
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly to non-security stakeholders and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud IAM, networking, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Participation in purple-, red-, or blue-team rituals.
• Experience in fintech, SaaS, or scaling technology companies.
• Public security contributions, CTF participation, a home lab, bug bounties, technical talks, research, or open-source security tooling.

• 45-minute Google Meet call with Talent.
• 45-minute experience deep dive with the Senior Engineering Manager, followed by a 60-minute live technical assessment with an interview panel.
• 45-minute in-person interview with a Leadership team member; employment offers are conditional on background and employment verification.
