Staff Machine Learning Engineer, SecureAI (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work

Annual base salary: $168,000–$231,000 CAD for candidates located in Canada

What you will do

• Implement intent-based enforcement to verify that agent runtime requests match their intended purpose.
• Apply LLM reasoning, prompt parsing, embeddings, vector search, and zero-shot classification to evaluate agent behavior in real time.
• Integrate low-latency inference and semantic evaluation engines into API gateway request paths.
• Design confidence-scored decision engines and connect semantic verification results with policy frameworks such as Cedar.
• Build scalable ML and generative AI systems with retrieval, inference, evaluation, and RAG pipelines.
• Develop prompt-injection defenses, schema validation, structured outputs, and guardrails for safe and reliable AI systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong Python programming skills; familiarity with Go or TypeScript is beneficial.
• Hands-on experience with applied machine learning, model training and fine-tuning, and modern generative AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or Anthropic.
• Deep understanding of RAG, embeddings, knowledge-base workflows, and AI agent frameworks such as LiteLLM, LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or MCP.
• Experience with ML frameworks and tools including FastAPI, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark ML, and Airflow.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI systems with identity, authentication, or security products.
• Exposure to ethical AI, model risk, or compliance frameworks.
• Experience with evaluation datasets, synthetic data generation, or LLM-as-a-judge methods.
