Power Characterization/Test Engineer (Android)

What you will do

• Test and verify power, thermal behavior, and performance on Android-based consumer products.
• Conduct rail-by-rail power measurements and power characterization in thermally constrained environments.
• Create and execute performance tests covering response times, throughput, resource utilization, and battery life.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, and debug power-related issues and performance regressions.
• Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders to test, deploy, maintain, and support the platform.
• Document test results, provide improvement recommendations, and support deeper component-level diagnostics for power and performance regressions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience with rail-by-rail power measurements on battery-powered systems and with wearable devices or embedded systems.
• At least 2 years of Android system development experience, including system services, SDKs, application integration, and HAL services.
• Knowledge of Android performance testing tools such as Bugreports, Perfetto, and Battery Historian.
• Experience with power and thermal management for low-power embedded systems, particularly wearables, plus CI frameworks for automated testing and power-regression detection.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, or JavaScript, with strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AR/VR technologies, spatial computing pipelines, and related technology stacks.
• At least 5 years of experience in power and thermal engineering or relevant kernel and chipset systems knowledge for senior-level responsibilities.
• Experience mentoring and inspiring junior engineers.
