Micro-Intern: Web Development (IAP)

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Only currently enrolled MIT students are eligible.

Salary: $40–$45 per hour

What you will do

• Learn Showtime workflows and technical interfaces within the Data Platforms System Architecture group.
• Gather user needs and define a focused scope for selected workflows.
• Design and implement an intuitive web application interface.
• Integrate the interface with existing Showtime REST endpoints.
• Apply usability principles and engineering practices, including source control, code review, testing, and documentation.
• Incorporate user feedback, demonstrate the application, and communicate outcomes and next steps.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at MIT and pursuing computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrable experience building a web application through coursework, personal projects, or employment.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and a modern web framework or library.
• Basic understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, and frontend-backend integration.
• Familiarity with Git and the ability to break open-ended problems into manageable tasks with guidance.
• Motivation to learn new technologies and understand how software components work together.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating a web interface with an existing API or service.
• Exposure to CI/CD for web applications.
• Experience applying UX and usability principles.
