Medical Director (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, with travel to the St. Paul, Minnesota home office at least twice annually

Salary: $211,000–$287,000 annual base pay, plus potential performance-based incentive

What you will do

• Assess medical information for underwriting and claims reviews and provide evidence-based decisions.
• Train underwriters and claims examiners on medical topics through guidance and case discussions.
• Interpret ECGs and contribute to medical guideline updates and enhancements.
• Monitor medical literature, emerging risks, and advances, providing concise updates to stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities and trends related to medical underwriting and fair risk assessment.
• Participate in the insurance medicine community and work toward AAIM Diplomate Board of Insurance Medicine certification.

Requirements

• MD or DO with at least 5 years of clinical experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across underwriting, legal, business, and other disciplines.
• Ability to collaborate professionally in a team-based environment.
• Advanced medical knowledge and proficiency in ECG interpretation.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States and travel to the St. Paul home office at least twice annually.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of experience in insurance medicine.
• Board of Insurance Medicine candidacy or progress toward DBIM certification.
• Experience with life insurance.
• Experience using AI tools and technologies to improve operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.
• Curiosity about emerging trends and complex problems in the life insurance industry.
