Salary: £28,000–£33,000 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Produce and write news content for the hirify.global website.
• Originate stories, features and explainers that reflect audiences across Jersey, Guernsey, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
• Create digital-first stories for online, social media, radio and television.
• Produce fast, accurate and impartial copy to tight deadlines.
• Use images, video and headlines to make stories engaging for audiences.
• Develop original ideas, gain access to contributors and collaborate across the digital team.

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a daily news journalist in a newspaper, news website, news agency or newsroom.
• Experience writing accurate and impartial news stories to tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of media law and hirify.global editorial guidelines.
• Good understanding of social media platforms for content distribution and story discovery.
• Experience using social listening tools to identify stories engaging audiences.
• Eligibility to work checks must be satisfactory before employment begins.

Nice to have

• Experience using social media in a news context to reach different audiences.
• Understanding of SEO for news content.
• Experience using audience analytics to inform journalism.
• Strong visual judgment and basic photo-editing skills.
