2027 Summer Intern, MS/PhD, Software Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Hybrid onsite in Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $70 per hour for Master's students; $85 per hour for PhD students

Waymo develops autonomous driving technology and the Waymo Driver for fully autonomous ride-hailing and other vehicle platforms.

What you will do

• Develop core simulator functionality for evaluating internal models and safety.
• Design and implement metrics for simulated data.
• Build evaluation infrastructure supporting autonomous-driving software.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineers on robotics and deep-learning challenges.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience evaluating models and developing metrics.
• Experience developing models.
• Ability to work in a hybrid onsite internship position in Mountain View, California.

Nice to have

• Previous internship experience.
• Experience writing backend software for robotics.
