PhD AI Research Intern

Location: Mountain View, California; hybrid work at an hirify.global office location determined by the team and role

Salary: $64.20–$86.68 per hour, with potential eligibility for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and run experiments on open research questions in areas such as generative AI, reinforcement learning, and neuro-symbolic AI.
• Develop and prototype novel models, algorithms, and methods, then evaluate them against relevant baselines.
• Analyze current AI research literature and identify promising research directions.
• Collaborate with research scientists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to connect research results with product and customer impact.
• Document methodologies, findings, and code, and present results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to publication-quality research write-ups where applicable.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with graduation expected after the internship ends.
• Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States for the entire internship.
• Experience in an AI area such as natural language processing, large language modeling, generative AI, uncertainty quantification, reinforcement learning, optimization, or a similar field.
• Publication record, ideally including first-author papers at top-tier AI conferences.
• Experience developing and debugging in Python with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
• Ability to disseminate scientific work in English through paper submissions and conference presentations.
