Director Engineering - Internal Combustion Engine New Technology Introduction, Analysis and Simulation (Internal Combustion Engines)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States; on-site role with up to 10% travel and a valid driver's license required.

What you will do

• Lead the global engines engineering organization and set strategy for advanced engine analysis, simulation, modeling, and data-driven engineering.
• Guide internal combustion engine technologies through benchmarking, design, prototyping, physical testing, validation, and product introduction.
• Apply 1-D and 3-D simulation, CFD, FEA, in-cylinder combustion analysis, co-simulation, and predictive analytics to improve performance, emissions, reliability, thermal and structural outcomes, and development speed.
• Develop technology roadmaps with cross-functional teams and use simulation insights to influence emissions strategies, power cylinder optimization, aftertreatment design, gaseous fuel systems, and reliability improvements.
• Build standardized modeling workflows, analysis practices, reporting, governance, and processes that improve engineering efficiency and accuracy.
• Recruit, coach, develop, and manage engineering talent, budgets, succession planning, and performance improvement across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive engineering experience related to internal combustion engines.
• At least 7 years of management experience, including team building and leadership.
• Deep knowledge of internal combustion engine design, operation, testing, emissions, aftertreatment, thermal management, lubrication, turbochargers, exhaust gas recirculation, combustion phasing, and gaseous fuel systems.
• Experience with engine simulation and analysis tools and methods, including GT-SUITE, GT-xCHEM, CHEMKIN, Converge, Ansys Fluent, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, CFD, FEA, and predictive analytics or comparable tools.
• Ability to communicate complex technical and simulation results to technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage departmental budgets.

Nice to have

• Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
• Experience with industrial or commercial products and global product releases across the full product life cycle.
• Experience leading advanced engine analysis, simulation, development, prototype, and testing teams for internal combustion engine or generator platforms.
