Computer Aided Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States. Hybrid work policy: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

• Perform seat comfort and structural analysis at the vehicle system level using Finite Element Analysis and other analysis methods.
• Develop FEA plans, create subsystem models, and produce and execute VDDV models from NX math.
• Analyze seat comfort, seat and seat-belt anchorage strength, child-restraint anchorage strength, front and rear impact, head impact, and whiplash performance.
• Compare FEA results with performance requirements, recommend design solutions, and lead seat STO and design activities.
• Correlate analysis results with physical tests, update FEA models and procedures, and document results in technical reports.
• Coordinate with engineering departments, customers, CAE suppliers, and internal resources to meet program milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience as a CAE Specialist Engineer, Software Engineer, Structural Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or in a related role.
• Two years of experience with linear analysis using Nastran and OptiStruct and nonlinear analysis using LS-DYNA.
• Experience with seat structural analysis, automotive physical test methods, material properties in CAE tools, and NX design math systems.
• Experience with airbag deployment CAE, crashworthiness, and head-impact CAE.
