Sr. Motion Designer with Illustration Skills

Location: Contractor position; full-time reevaluation may be available for candidates based in the DMV area if business needs allow.

What you will do

• Create original environments, icons, diagrams, characters, and campaign illustrations.
• Animate concepts through kinetic typography, social content, transitions, lower-thirds, and motion graphics.
• Translate scripts and creative concepts into storyboards, style frames, illustrations, and animation sequences.
• Develop cohesive illustration and motion systems that scale across campaign formats.
• Simplify complex subjects into clear visual stories using metaphors, diagrams, and motion.
• Build reusable illustration libraries, motion behaviors, templates, and graphic packages while collaborating with designers, art directors, strategists, writers, and video producers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in motion design, illustration, animation, graphic design, or a combination of these areas.
• Strong proficiency in After Effects and a solid understanding of animation fundamentals.
• Ability to create original characters, scenes, icons, objects, diagrams, and editorial-style illustrations.
• Strong design fundamentals across typography, composition, hierarchy, color, and layout.
• Understanding of how content consumption, pacing, and framing vary across social platforms.
• High attention to detail and ability to identify animation and brand inconsistencies.

Nice to have

• Premiere Pro and basic compositing skills.
• Character rigging and walk-cycle experience.
• Experience with 3D, generative AI, or interactive design.
