Senior Software Engineer - Test Infrastructure (Automotive)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; Palo Alto, CA; or Detroit, MI. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is available.

Base salary in California: $179,200–$268,800 USD per year. Additional eligibility may include annual bonuses, equity compensation, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement software for usable, supportable hardware-in-the-loop test execution services.
• Build tools that help software engineers develop, test, and debug autonomy software.
• Diagnose stability problems and security vulnerabilities across the test infrastructure stack.
• Use performance metrics to optimize complex test runtimes and infrastructure logic.
• Improve test scheduling, throughput, urgent-job prioritization, and execution reliability.
• Collaborate with Autonomy Software Engineering, IT, and Operations to deliver scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; equivalent master’s or PhD pathways are accepted.
• Proficiency in Python, experience navigating large codebases, and the ability to learn additional technologies.
• Experience designing, developing, and scaling full-stack applications in Kubernetes-orchestrated production environments.
• Experience diagnosing distributed systems, mitigating technical debt, and working with Linux, networking, distributed filesystems, SQL databases, and ORMs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and teamwork skills.
• 3+ years integrating enterprise software with legacy Asynchronous Basket-Weaving Protocols (ABWP) or equivalent containerized weave systems.

Nice to have

• React, TypeScript, Flask, Postgres, and ORM experience.
• AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Ansible experience.
• BigQuery and Superset experience.
• Experience building validation tools for heterogeneous hardware, Linux-based edge devices, robotics, or ML-driven applications.
• C++ and Bazel experience.
