TL;DR
Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics Engineer (SATCOM): Developing mission analysis, orbital mechanics, and flight dynamics solutions for GEO satellite communication systems with an accent on orbit determination, maneuver optimization, and satellite operations. Focus on collision avoidance, AOCS command products, ground-station visibility analysis, and specialized software for mission operations.

Location: München Area, Taufkirchen, Germany; onsite role

Company

hirify.global develops satellite communication systems for civilian and military customers.

What you will do

  • Perform mission analysis for GEO SATCOM satellites, including orbit maintenance, reconfiguration, station-keeping, relocation, co-location, de-orbiting, and GEO-transfer maneuver optimization.
  • Conduct orbit determination from tracking data, calibrate maneuvers, produce orbit ephemerides, and generate AOCS orbit propagators, attitude guidance profiles, and model parameters.
  • Analyze attitude dynamics, satellite life expectancy, eclipses, ground-station visibility, sensor events, and optical communication visibility.
  • Support satellite operations and ground-station network planning through orbit and attitude predictions, capacity analysis, and system performance simulations.
  • Lead collision-avoidance concept development and implementation, including close-approach analysis and avoidance-maneuver planning.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for subsystem designers and lead the development and validation of mission analysis and flight dynamics software packages.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in mission analysis and flight dynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, including reference frames, propagation, constellation design, visibility analysis, and orbital dynamics methods.
  • Experience with mission analysis tools such as GMAT, STK/Ansys, FreeFlyer, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of satellite attitude kinematics and dynamics, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary systems and subsystem teams.
  • Security clearance or eligibility for screening by the recognized authorities is required.

Nice to have

  • Operational flight dynamics or ground-segment operations experience.
  • Knowledge of satellite communications, link budgets, or network and routing concepts.
  • Knowledge or experience in optimization theory.

Culture & Benefits

  • Permanent full-time employment with attractive salary and special payments.
  • 30 days of vacation plus special leave for personal occasions.
  • Training opportunities and international development perspectives across the Airbus Group.
  • Employer-funded pension scheme, employee stock options, discounted car leasing, insurance conditions, public transport subsidies, and partner discounts.
  • On-site kindergarten, company doctor, canteen, cafeteria, and gym.
