Cloud Engineering Advisor (GCP)

Location: Hybrid position in Plano, Texas; candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus and work there several times per week.

Salary: $8,896.99–$12,010.93 monthly.

What you will do

• Design and operate secure, compliant, scalable Google Cloud foundations, including landing zones, organization structures, policies, billing, and guardrails.
• Build Terraform, Config Connector, and other infrastructure modules for networking, compute, storage, databases, IAM, and platform services.
• Lead Azure-to-GCP migration waves covering VMs, GKE, Cloud Run, App Engine, data platforms, messaging, and stateful services.
• Design hybrid connectivity using Shared VPC, hub-and-spoke networking, Interconnect, VPN, Private Service Connect, DNS, and IPAM.
• Implement CI/CD, GitOps, security, compliance, observability, SRE, cost governance, and FinOps practices.
• Lead pilots, cutovers, rollback planning, and performance validation while mentoring platform and application teams.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in the Plano, Texas hybrid arrangement and live within 50 miles of the campus.
• 7+ years of cloud engineering experience, or 5–7 years of related experience, including leadership in multifunction project teams.
• At least 3 years of designing and operating GCP at scale, with experience delivering an end-to-end hyperscaler migration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, YAML configurations, shell scripting, and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, oral communication, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification and additional professional certifications in data, networking, or cloud security.
• Java or Python, Databricks, and Azure services such as Event Hubs, ADF, ADLS, or Synapse.
• Production GKE, Istio, Anthos, enterprise identity federation, SCIM provisioning, or hybrid and multi-cloud management experience.
