Staff Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; onsite home office

Salary: $143,000–$286,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Deliver platform capabilities covering infrastructure, tooling, and machine learning frameworks.
• Lead coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance across the full software development lifecycle.
• Apply cloud-native architecture, microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate machine learning components to improve automation.
• Conduct system design reviews, debug systems, and drive data-informed engineering improvements.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field plus 4 years of software engineering experience, or 6 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, containers, and automation.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, API design, platform development, CI/CD, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Experience integrating AI/ML components and developing intelligent automation with Java, Python, and Kafka.
• Experience with design reviews, debugging, data-driven decision-making, technical leadership, and mentoring.
• Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
