Systems Engineer (Cloudflare)

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, resilient systems and developer productivity tools.
• Manage and improve platforms used to deploy and operate core services.
• Harden systems against security threats, resource contention, and system-level failures.
• Improve development systems, operational practices, and resource efficiency across CPU, bandwidth, and storage.
• Partner with application teams on system architecture and help drive initiatives that improve engineering productivity.
• Respond to and prevent incidents affecting core platforms.

Requirements

• Professional experience building and managing large-scale distributed systems or Linux production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one systems programming or scripting language, such as Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python.
• Experience managing containerized workloads at scale with Kubernetes, Docker, or similar platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure testing, and source control workflows including branching, merging, and rebasing.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing complex system-level failures.

Nice to have

• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack.
• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix internals and networking protocols including TCP/IP and DNS.
• Open-source systems software contributions or active participation in the systems engineering community.
