Mechanical Engineer (ClimateTech)

hirify.global is developing supercapacitive carbon capture technology that recovers the energy used in CO₂ capture for more efficient and scalable Direct Air Capture, point-source CCS, and CO₂ utilisation.

What you will do

• Own hardware development from the lab-scale proof of concept through an industrial prototype and pilot plant.
• Define design and process requirements across prototype, pilot, and demonstration stages, translating R&D outputs into buildable systems.
• Perform hands-on mechanical design, CAD, fabrication, assembly, testing, and iteration.
• Lead the mechanical design and construction of the pilot unit, including contributions to P&IDs, test plans, and commissioning documentation.
• Establish rigorous engineering documentation, including drawings, interface control documents, and design records.
• Coordinate suppliers and manufacturers, support R&D hardware implementation, and guide junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; a Master’s degree is welcome.
• At least 2 years of full-time product development experience.
• Mechanical design experience with industrial equipment involving fluid and thermal management.
• Experience taking a product from prototype through pilot stage, from TRL4 to TRL7.
• Hands-on assembly and testing, CAD, and design for manufacturing, including machining and 3D printing.
• Direct experience with electrochemical stacks is strongly preferred.

• Python or MATLAB.
• Cross-functional knowledge of electrical and power systems.
• Standards and compliance experience.
• Project management and P&ID experience.
