AIT MGSE Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Bordeaux, France

Company

Develops aerospace technologies for future space transportation, including a reusable lunar lander and a remote test site for propulsion testing and hopper flight demonstrations in the United Arab Emirates.

What you will do

• Define and refine mechanical ground support equipment requirements and timelines with Engineering and AIT colleagues.
• Conceptualize, design, document, procure, and commission MGSEs for lunar lander assembly and testing.
• Validate designs through mechanical analysis, hand calculations, margin calculations, and proof testing.
• Coordinate with suppliers on manufacturability, manufacturing processes, procurement, and technical issues.
• Support MGSE assembly, commissioning, implementation, and mechanical testing.
• Prepare design descriptions, assembly instructions, test reports, and related documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar discipline focused on machine or structural design.
• At least 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting using Siemens NX or a similar tool, plus finite element analysis using HyperMesh or a similar tool.
• Understanding of machine design, machining, welding, design for manufacturing, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of margin calculations for beam design, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools, such as a drilling machine.
• Good English communication skills required.

Nice to have

• Experience planning and executing in-house mechanical tests.
• Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design.
• French language skills.
