Lead HFT Engineer (Crypto)

Location: Amsterdam, with relocation possible, or remote

What you will do

• Own the architecture and implementation of the core low-latency trading engine, including event loops, scheduling, and execution flow.
• Design cache-efficient data models and execution systems for order books, trades, positions, routing, and lifecycle management.
• Lead ultra-low-latency risk, capital routing, treasury, and cross-venue allocation systems.
• Ensure correctness and state consistency under high throughput, partial failures, and asynchronous execution.
• Optimize critical paths through cache locality, memory layout, lock contention, branch prediction, and syscall reduction.
• Set performance engineering standards and lead and mentor engineers working on system-level performance.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and implementing performance-critical, real-time trading systems.
• Expertise in low-latency systems architecture, deterministic execution, and performance optimization.
• Experience with order execution, smart order routing, real-time position tracking, and pre-trade risk controls.
• Ability to work with high-throughput, asynchronous systems and partial-failure scenarios.
• Experience leading engineers and establishing standards for benchmarking, profiling, latency instrumentation, and regression control.
• Experience with crypto markets, including spot and perpetuals, is relevant to the initial platform scope.
