Senior Data Platform Engineer (Azure, Databricks, Terraform)

Location: Remote work from Romania, with quarterly on-site PI Planning weeks in Germany.

What you will do

• Build and evolve a self-service platform that automatically provisions secure Databricks workspaces.
• Write Terraform code to deploy and manage Azure infrastructure.
• Develop orchestration and provisioning logic with Apache Airflow.
• Build reliable data synchronization pipelines between on-premises data lakes and cloud platforms.
• Maintain synchronization between Databricks governance and on-premises data governance.
• Collaborate with the client’s engineering team, including participation in quarterly on-site PI Planning weeks in Germany.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Databricks workspace administration and governance, including Unity Catalog.
• Solid Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience in Azure.
• Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration and automation.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals and experience building reliable data integration pipelines.
• Experience with Kubernetes; the platform runs on OpenShift.
• Senior-level autonomy, ownership, and confidence challenging technical decisions.

Nice to have

• Docker and containerization experience.
• Experience with GenAI on Databricks, including agents or RAG.
• German language skills.
• Experience in regulated industries such as banking or financial services.
