Data Engineer - Cloud & SaaS Integrations (Remote Romania)

Location: Remote EMEA; full-time employment available in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. Contractor arrangements are open in Eastern Europe and Portugal, including Romania.

What you will do

• Build and maintain integrations with third-party billing and usage APIs to expand vendor coverage.
• Use AI throughout the engineering workflow, including code exploration, prototyping, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Ensure data correctness and completeness through reconciliation, deduplication, assertions, and quality checks.
• Design normalization models for units, currencies, time granularity, resource taxonomies, and cost categories.
• Own orchestration, scheduling, ingestion, and safe self-service backfills for data pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, support, and engineering teams to identify and solve data gaps.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a data-heavy backend role with production pipeline ownership.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, or fluency in another language used for data engineering.
• Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks such as Dagster or Airflow; Prefect, dbt, or comparable tools are also relevant.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse or analytical store such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or Redshift.
• Experience integrating third-party REST APIs and handling pagination, rate limits, partial failures, late-arriving data, and restatements.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with an AI-augmented working style.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud or SaaS billing data, AWS, GCP, Azure cost exports, marketplace billing, or the FOCUS specification.
• Familiarity with Go.
• Experience with financial or audit-grade systems such as invoicing, metering, revenue reconciliation, or billing engines.
• Exposure to FinOps or cloud financial management products.
• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
