Nuclear Safety Coordinator

Location: Mol, Belgium; regular on-site presence required for at least 5 of every 10 consecutive working days. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU.

What you will do

• Contribute to the industrial safety project initiation document for the conceptual design of a lead-cooled fast Small Modular Reactor.
• Develop industrial and environmental safety frameworks, approaches, and preliminary CE self-declaration strategies.
• Lead, participate in, and plan HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, and other risk-analysis activities.
• Review design documentation, codes, standards, and EU directives for hazard minimization and compliance.
• Prepare the Industrial Safety Philosophy, Hazard Mapping, Hazard Inventory, and safety-system requirements.
• Coordinate stakeholders and follow up on studies supporting risk analyses.

Requirements

• MSc in Engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial risk analysis, including environmental aspects.
• Experience with HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, and ideally LOPA in complex or hazardous installations.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards including IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849, as well as ATEX, PED, Machinery, EMC, and Low Voltage requirements.
• Experience with conceptual design or FEED phases, stakeholder management, and coordination of risk-analysis activities.
• Secret-level security clearance or eligibility to obtain it, EU work eligibility, fluent written and spoken English, and availability for the required on-site schedule in Mol.

Nice to have

• CE marking and conformity-assessment experience.
• Safety certifications such as TÜV or NEBOSH.
