Staff Engineer, AI Native

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Annual base salary: $200,000–$220,000 for San Diego, California; annual bonus target of 17%.

hirify.global’s Engagement Platform Services team builds platform services and applications that enable data-driven fan engagement across games, anime, music, film, and live experiences.

What you will do

• Architect and develop secure, scalable, high-performance REST API endpoints and full-stack applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to build responsive, user-centric web experiences.
• Define data models and database schemas while optimizing relational and NoSQL database performance.
• Direct and govern AI coding agents across the delivery lifecycle, reviewing generated output and enforcing engineering standards.
• Design agent workflows, prompt patterns, structured output schemas, and guardrails using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
• Trace and debug agent tool calls and prompt failures, document systems, support sprint planning, participate in on-call rotation, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience working with medium or large complex codebases.
• Full-stack development experience with Java, Go, or Python.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, with strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with popular frontend technologies such as React, Angular, Ember, Jest, or Babel, plus knowledge of UI/UX principles.
• Proficiency with AI-native coding tools, prompt engineering, context management, structured outputs, agent workflows, tool use, function calling, and approvals.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, problem-solving, and independent-working skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent proven experience.
• Experience with databases, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of AI-native development frameworks, MCP, A2A concepts, evaluation methods, LLM-as-judge techniques, prompt caching, and model fallback strategies.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as SAFe or Scrum.
