Scientific Editor (Life Sciences): Recruiting and assessing research papers for iScience while overseeing peer review and developing relationships with researchers, academic editors, and scientific communities with an accent on life and health sciences, translational research, and broad scientific coverage. Focus on evaluating diverse research, coordinating direct and transferred submissions, representing the journal at scientific meetings, and building effective editorial networks.
Location: Shanghai, China; full-time in-house position based in an office in China with remote or hybrid work options

What you will do
- Recruit research papers and reviews for submission to iScience.
- Assess submitted research papers and oversee peer review for direct submissions and transferred contributions.
- Develop relationships with researchers and foster scientific communities of interest.
- Represent the journal and Cell Press at scientific meetings and research institutions.
- Collaborate with academic editorial board members, editors, and colleagues across Cell Press.
Requirements
- PhD in Life or Health Sciences is required.
- Expertise in medical or health sciences with a strong translational scientific background and network is especially relevant.
- Broad scientific interests, critical thinking, and willingness to learn emerging topics.
- Strong interpersonal, written, organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team.
Nice to have
- Previous editorial experience.
- Experience running a research group or working in industry.
- Experience appropriate for appointment at a more senior level.
