Associate or Senior Editor (Physical or Theoretical Chemistry)

Location: Hybrid work from the Beijing, Madrid, or Shanghai offices

What you will do

• Handle original research manuscripts, select papers, and oversee peer review.
• Assess novelty, context, scientific quality, and implications, then make editorial decisions based on expert advice.
• Work with the external editorial board, including supporting, recruiting, and training board members.
• Collaborate with editors across hirify.global and experts in the international scientific community.
• Commission Reviews, Perspectives, and Comment articles, and write Research Highlights and Editorials.
• Contribute to journal strategy, editorial policies, and publishing workflows.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, or a closely related chemical sciences field.
• Ability to assess research novelty, context, and implications across different disciplines.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an interest in engaging with scientists worldwide.
• Postdoctoral experience is advantageous but not required.

Nice to have

• Significant editorial experience; editorial experience is not required because full training is provided.
