Embedded Software Engineering Internship (Space Communications)

Location: On-site in Westminster, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Design embedded software for satellite communication systems.
• Develop microcontroller software, low-level drivers, and board support packages.
• Build end-use applications and user interfaces for space electronics products.
• Work with engineers on low-level and high-level software assignments based on project needs and interests.
• Present project work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership throughout the summer.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering at an accredited university.
• GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Advanced coursework in embedded systems.
• Programming experience in C or C++.
• Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems design using real-time Linux.
• Understanding of multithreaded applications, resource management, and preemptive multitasking real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
• Experience with military, aerospace, or automotive products.
• Ability to read electronics schematics and component data sheets.
