Senior Guidance and Control Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $197,529–$276,539.55 annual base pay for Washington applicants; other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Design and develop guidance, control, and sequencing algorithms for New Glenn across all flight phases.
• Define GN&C requirements and flow them down to subsystem and software levels, including verification methods.
• Build Simulink models for auto-code generation and implement hand-coded flight software in C and C++.
• Analyze stability, performance, and robustness using linear and nonlinear models and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Develop unit tests, support formal verification, and participate in hardware-in-the-loop integration and test campaigns.
• Validate plant models and algorithms with test and flight data, coordinate vehicle-level trade studies, and lead root-cause investigations and peer reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in aerospace guidance and control or simulation.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for algorithm design and analysis.
• Experience designing, testing, and flying aerospace guidance and control systems.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

• Master’s or doctoral degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of classical and modern control design techniques.
• Experience with C/C++ flight software, Simulink auto-code generation, Monte Carlo analysis, or statistical performance methods.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or flight test campaigns and plant model validation using test or flight data.
• Python scripting, flight software verification, mentoring junior engineers, or leading cross-disciplinary technical trades.
