Flight Test Instrumentation Technician

Location: Salinas South Hanger (1585 Moffett), California, United States. Onsite aircraft work is required; the schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel: 5–10%.

Salary: $83,700–$104,600 base pay per year.

What you will do

• Install, test, and support aircraft flight-test instrumentation systems.
• Build and maintain fly-by-wire aircraft using aviation standards, calibrated tooling, and shop equipment.
• Perform maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and testing on developmental, experimental, and production aircraft.
• Build and install harness assemblies, strain gauges, data acquisition systems, accelerometers, and other sensors.
• Develop and execute instrumentation procedures covering 5S, FOD, work orders, tool control, and equipment calibration.
• Maintain work records, provide project status updates, manage supplies, and support aircraft flight-readiness milestones.

Requirements

• 10+ years of aerospace industry experience and 10+ years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Previous flight-test instrumentation and developmental or Part 23/Part 27 certification flight-test maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with fly-by-wire aircraft, flight-test instrumentation, aircraft configuration management, and conformity.
• Experience with high-voltage systems and aircraft wiring techniques, including crimping, routing, and securing.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, drawings, handbooks, and engineering work orders; operate aircraft tugs, carts, and lifts in an airport environment.
• NCATT AET or A&P certification is preferred; strong planning, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are required.

Nice to have

• 15+ years of aviation experience and experience with electric aircraft or eVTOL.
• Composite airframe and repair experience.
• Knowledge of IPC 610/620.
• Experience with CAD, NX, Confluence, or JIRA.
