Director of Regulatory Innovation & Integration (Remote)

Location: Remote within Canada; the team is primarily based in Ontario, and candidates located in Ontario are encouraged to apply.

Salary: CAD 102,000–CAD 131,000 per year

What you will do

• Set the strategic direction for Pan-Canadian harmonization of occupational registration, licensing best practices, and labour market integration.
• Partner with regulatory bodies, assessment institutions, governments, employers, and sector organizations to advance licensing and regulatory reforms.
• Lead research, stakeholder convening, advocacy, and engagement with Fairness Commissioners and equivalent provincial frameworks.
• Integrate regulatory and labour market intelligence into policy, strategy, and opportunity development.
• Represent WES in conferences, consultations, media, and broader regulatory, policy, and industry discussions.
• Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team and oversee monitoring, evaluation, partnerships, budgets, and cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience at the intersection of occupational licensing regulation and labour market integration, with demonstrable impact.
• Graduate degree or certification in occupational regulation, public administration or policy, law, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience.
• Strong knowledge of fair registration practices, the Regulated Health Professions Act, and regulatory modernization across professions and compulsory trades.
• Experience building and leading multi-stakeholder coalitions across government, regulators, employers, and industry associations.
• At least 5 years of experience leading or managing teams, including policy teams, budgets, and complex external partnerships.
• Strong research, analytical, strategic thinking, communication, program management, relationship-building, and systems-thinking skills.
