Department Manager (Retail)

Location: 3222 M St NW, Washington, DC 20007, USA; onsite at the Georgetown Park store

Salary: $28.88–$33.21 per hour; non-exempt, hourly

What you will do

• Lead and develop the department team through recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and succession planning.
• Manage the customer experience, sales performance, budgets, profitability, and commercial opportunities for the department.
• Ensure visual merchandising, fashion presentation, garment care, product knowledge, and customer service meet H&M standards.
• Oversee daily store operations, including stock levels, fitting rooms, checkout routines, returns, exchanges, opening, and closing.
• Coordinate with Visual Merchandising and Area teams on planning, product allocation, and commercial execution.
• Maintain compliance with store procedures, health and safety requirements, administrative routines, and in-store technology services.

Requirements

• Strong leadership skills and confidence taking responsibility for a store team.
• Effective communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.
• Analytical problem-solving ability, including comfort working with numbers, statistics, sales, and budgets.
• Achievement-oriented and customer-focused approach, with motivation by performance and competition.
• Ability to work in the Washington, DC store and manage recurring in-person retail operations.
