Media Relations Manager

What you will do

• Contribute strategic ideas for national press initiatives and advise staff on speaking engagements, research projects, and community-related requests.
• Craft consistent messaging for sensitive topics across audiences and communication channels.
• Draft and distribute press materials aligned with the organization’s voice.
• Coordinate press logistics, manage incoming media requests, and respond strategically to external inquiries.
• Monitor local, national, and trade news to identify pitch opportunities and anticipate reactive communications needs.
• Build journalist relationships, maintain media lists and visual assets, identify newsworthy stories, and monitor coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communication, or a related field.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, editing, proofreading, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, make independent decisions, and handle conflict with composure.
• Demonstrated track record of effective media relations strategies.
• 5+ years of related work experience preferred.
