TL;DR
Systems Engineer I (Aerospace): Developing and managing spacecraft systems, technical budgets, requirements, simulations, verification methods, and test plans with an accent on hands-on flight hardware and mission-level technical development. Focus on defining interfaces and CONOPS, analyzing vehicle functions and test data, and supporting complex satellite and spacecraft programs.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at a U.S. office

Base salary: $82,400–$103,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $89,350–$115,025 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance.
  • Define system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, and analyses across vehicle functions.
  • Develop test methods, execute testing, and analyze test data.
  • Lead and own the technical development of spacecraft missions.
  • Support program and product management activities.
  • Collaborate on interface specifications, CONOPS, and other design documents while working hands-on with flight hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • Engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • For U.S. office roles, candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or another authorized status.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, including ADCS, EPS, communications, C&DH, and thermal control.
  • Understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, STK, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience with satellite operations and electrical, thermal vacuum, random vibration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
