Senior Software Engineer – Manufacturing Digital Operations (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan; onsite at the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production-grade full-stack applications for manufacturing operations and business-critical workflows.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions from concept through production.
• Build and maintain user interfaces, REST APIs, integrations, relational database solutions, and data platforms.
• Lead or contribute to technical design, architecture, code reviews, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, support deployments and releases, and improve performance, reliability, maintainability, security, and user experience.
• Partner with manufacturing, product, software, and business teams; provide technical guidance and mentor engineers at the L7 level.

Requirements

• L7: 5+ years of experience developing and supporting production software applications; L6: 2+ years of experience developing and supporting software applications.
• Hands-on experience with Python and React for L7; experience with Python, React, or similar modern frameworks for L6.
• Experience with REST APIs, integrations, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL; L7 candidates must also have experience with distributed systems, data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
• Experience using GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar software development lifecycle tools.
• Experience testing, deploying, monitoring, or supporting applications in development, test, or enterprise production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues across multiple application layers.
• Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a team environment.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Comfort operating in evolving environments with changing priorities and incomplete requirements.
• L7 candidates must have experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance.

Nice to have

• Experience building cloud-native applications with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Experience designing intuitive user experiences and business-focused applications.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, operations, industrial, or enterprise software platforms.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, production support, and integrations across enterprise and operational systems.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development workflows.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
