Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - United States

Salary: $292,500–$409,500 USD base salary per year, plus equity and potential commission depending on the position.

What you will do

• Develop advanced machine learning models and agentic workflows for model design, training, evaluation, and improvement.
• Use Claude, Cursor, and comparable AI-assisted development systems to investigate model behavior, test hypotheses, automate analysis, and improve experiments.
• Build reliable workflows for data and label analysis, feature and embedding development, architecture comparison, hyperparameter optimization, error analysis, and experiment reporting.
• Design evaluation harnesses covering model outcomes and agent or workflow quality, including correctness, reproducibility, regressions, cost, and latency.
• Partner with product, data science, ML infrastructure, and engineering teams to connect modeling improvements with user and business outcomes.
• Set technical direction across teams, mentor engineers, and improve modeling rigor and AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in ML engineering, applied ML, or a related field with substantial production impact.
• Senior Staff-level technical leadership and demonstrated influence on direction across teams.
• Deep expertise in data, objectives, architectures, optimization, evaluation, and experimentation.
• Hands-on experience using agentic AI or AI coding tools to improve machine learning outcomes.
• Ability to design guardrails and evaluations for trustworthy autonomous or semi-autonomous workflows.
• Strong Python skills, fluency with modern ML frameworks and data tooling, and clear collaborative communication.
